Description

After the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Scottish, 1868–1928) and his wife, Margaret Macdonald, left the Scottish city of Glasgow and moved to London, they began painting designs for two large manufacturers of fine fabrics. Most of the pictures in this Colouring book were adapted from the designs for cotton and silk cloth that Mackintosh completed with his wife's assistance in the 1910s and 1920s. Many of them are inspired by a European style called "art nouveau." The twenty-two pictures in this book are shown in Colour as small pictures on the inside front and back covers. You can use these as a guide for Colouring, or you might decide to use Colours that are quite different. The last page of this book is blank so that you can draw and Colour your own picture in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You'll notice that Mackintosh used repeated geometric shapes as well as flowers and other natural forms. Perhaps you'll use lots of flowers, or checkerboards, or triangles, or curvy lines, or a combination of many different shapes! - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £7.2
