Description
Owen Jones was a British architect and designer who lived from 1809 to 1874. While traveling in Europe and the Middle East, he grew fascinated by the designs and patterns used in architecture and the decorative arts. He collected designs he found in the carvings on buildings, mosaic patterns on floors, painted manuscript pages, embroidered clothing, and so much more, from many countries, cultures, and periods. He then presented them in a big book called The Grammar of Ornament. In it, Jones included his thoughts on colour and shape, and the relationship between nature and design. His ideas have influenced architects and designers for more than 150 years. Twenty-two of Jones's designs are included in this colouring book. You may choose to colour them to match the small reproductions shown on the inside front and back covers, or you might experiment with different colour combinations. And who knows? Perhaps these designs will inspire you to look more closely at the buildings and objects around you, and to learn more about the amazing world of architecture and design. You might just become the next Owen Jones! - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £7.2
